A Japanese house in a small mountain village at the base of the Miyagawa River

A Japanese house in a small mountain village at the base of the Miyagawa River flowing through the Hida region in the direction of Toyama. The previous owner of this house cut down the trees on his mountain and brought them down in the winter. He used the logs to build the house himself, with the help of carpenters. The ceiling of the second floor is high and spacious, as that was the popular construction style during the Showa era (1926–1989) which it was made in. The beams, pillars, floorboards and furniture made of pine wood and chestnut wood are in great condition, so they can be reused in a new building.
